Arndt, Vernice I.

Vernice I. Arndt, age 95, of South Bend, IN, (formerly of Clintonville, WI), passed away Tuesday evening, September 24, 2019, at her daughter’s home in South Bend.

Vernice was born on March 26, 1924 in the Town of Liberty, Outagamie County, WI, near New London. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Holmes) Moser. Vernice grew up in the New London area and was united in marriage to Irving C. Arndt in Milwaukee on May 31, 1941. The couple lived a short time in Black Creek before moving to the farm where Irving lived as a boy in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County. Vernice and Irving farmed side by side growing it from 80 acres to 340 acres. They started out dairy farming but spent most of their working career farming, raising Hereford cattle, and driving trucks during corn, pea, and sugar beet season for local canning companies. The Lord was at the center of Vernice’s life, and she worshipped Him as a member of the Apostolic Tabernacle in Clintonville, later renamed Calvary Apostolic Church. Irving preceded his wife in death on May 18, 1987. After that time, Vernice became quite the world traveler. She spent three months teaching English to children in Russia and supported missionaries around the world. About eight years ago, she moved to South Bend, IN, to be near her family. Vernice was very talented when it came to quilting and also was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothing for her family. Their faith in God will lead her family through this difficult time.

Survivors include: -a daughter, Sandra (Sheldon) Runkle, South Bend, IN; -grandchildren: Nathan Runkle and Marissa (Daniel) Gebhard, South Bend, and Seth Runkle, Minneapolis, MN; -a sister Ardyss Detra, Neenah, WI; and a brother Duane (Judy) Moser, Grassy, MO.
