Wolves beat T-Birds

Manawa wins big for Homecoming

It’s been more than a decade since Manawa beat Iola-Scandinavian but the Wolves gave their fans a Sept. 27 Homecoming victory when they defeated the Thunderbirds 55-6.

The Wolves were the only team to score in the first quarter when Mason Wiesner connected with Jackson Jaeger on a 34-yard pass for a touchdown. Wiesner kicked the extra point putting Manawa up 7-0.

Manawa scored two times in the second quarter, before T-Bird quarterback Parker Prahl connected with Connor Kurki on a 59-yard pass for a touchdown.

Deion Stroud had the final score of the half, on an 18-yard run, giving Manawa at 27-6 lead in the game.

The Wolves scored three times in the third quarter, with one touchdown each for Stroud, Jaeger and Kenny Reynolds.

The final score of the game came on an 11-yard run by Bryan Griffin.

Wiesner completed 12 of 21 passes for 128 yards, including three touchdowns, and carried the ball 10 times for 59 yards.

Prahl completed 7 of 21 passes for 167 yards, and carried the ball 10 times for 32 yards.

Riley Krenke brought down 5 passes for 52 yards and one touchdown to lead the receiving for the Wolves, while Will Cady caught 3 passes for the T-Birds for 75 yards.

Manawa will travel to Amherst on Oct. 4 to take on the Falcons, while Iola-Scandinavia will travel to Oconto.
