Dessert shop selling cheesecake by the slice

By Holly Neumann

Three Angels Dessert Shop is selling cheesecake by the slice at Sliced Pizza Company.

Vicki Brown operates the dessert shop.

Sliced Pizza Company is located at 305 N. Main St., in Scandinavia.

“Last year, her daughter MaKenna was going to Australia, so we did a cheesecake fundraiser to raise money for her trip,” said Vicki. “Lisa Shirek (owner of Sliced Pizza Company) bought some to show her support. So when she opened up Sliced, she sent me a text me and asked if she could sell my cheesecakes.”

Vicki was excited about the opportunity.

“I have been baking my whole life, but mostly as a hobby” she said. “My mom taught me the basics, but it was self-researched from there.”

She makes cookies, cupcakes and also treats for dogs.

However, cheesecake is her signature item.

“They are good,” said her daughter Brianna. “Her secret ingredient is love. She puts a lot of effort into them and goes above and beyond.”

“She has done things that I did not even know were possible,” said her daughter Nevaeh. “Everything she makes is so good.”

Flavor of the month

At Sliced Pizza Company, they have a flavor of the month.

White chocolate is always on the menu.

Some of her other flavors include Raspberry White Chocolate, Turtle, Peanut Buttercup, Monster Cookie Triple Chocolate Crème De Mente and Chocolate Chip.

She can also make gluten free cheesecake.

“The flavors on the menu are taste tested and customer approved,” said Vicki. “But I am always willing to try something new.”

It is a family business, as her daughters help her bake.

“Brianna is my artist,” said Vicki. “She does all the decorations on the cookies and all the final touches. And Nevaeh makes the cheesecake crust and is the ingredient getter.”

“I’m a master chef on my way,” said Nevaeh.

This is Vicki’s first business venture.

“This is something I have talked about for a long time,” she said. “A lot of people love the cheesecakes. I hope to grow from here and get my name out there. Hopefully, someday I will be able to open my own shop.”

Her daughters are proud of what she has accomplished thus far.

“I think it’s amazing that she is following her dreams,” said Brianna.

“She is finally doing what she has always wanted to do,” said Nevaeh. “It’s a great opportunity.”

Vicki is excited to be part of Scandinavia’s growth.

“Lisa is working very, very hard to revitalize the Scandinavia community,” she said. “She is very passionate about this, so that we can eventually call it historic downtown Scandinavia and market it that way. I am really glad to be a part of that.”

Some of her other specialties include cupcakes, small cakes, cake pops and smash cakes for a child’s first birthday.
