Two charged with conspiracy

Suspects accused of receiving meth in mail

Nicholas W. Schulke, 23, Waupaca, and Zachary T. Smith, 27, Weyauwega, are charged with conspiracy to commit possession of amphetamine with intent to deliver.

Waupaca County Deputy Bryan Strobusch contacted the postal inspector and asked him to watch for suspicious packages going to an address in Fremont, the complaint says.

On Monday, Aug. 26, the postal inspector contacted Strobusch and reported intercepting a package.

After obtaining a search warrant, they discovered 61 grams of crystal meth in the package, according to the criminal complaint.

Smith reportedly told Strobusch that Schulke was receiving two to three packages every month.

Investigators have accused Schulke and Smith of receiving packages of meth through the mail since Jan. 1.

Shulke reportedly said he as selling the meth at cost because what he was doing was more like a friend helping a friend.

Schulke is charged as a repeater and faces up to 40 years in prison. He is in custody on a $5,000 cash bond.

On July 30, Schulke was convicted of possession of meth and placed on two years of probation.

On March 1, 2016, he was convicted of delivery of heroin and maintaining a drug trafficking place. Schulke was placed on five years of probation.

Smith is scheduled for his intial court appearance on Oct. 22.
