Hosted by Winchester Academy, the program is free and open to the public.

Stevenson is a bluegrass musician and senior lecturer in physics and astronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

He will be joined by fellow musician and Professor Emeritus David Tamres.

The physical principles of woodwinds and stringed instruments will be discussed and demonstrated.

The pennywhistle and the guitar will serve as examples of how musical instruments produce sound and how they are tuned and played.

Principles of resonance, fundamental frequency, harmonics, and tone will be demonstrated.

Tamres taught physics and astronomy at UW-Stevens Point for more than 20 years, retiring in 2016.

He developed a physics course on acoustics, in which students built and demonstrated musical instruments.

He plays the guitar, mandolin and pennywhistle.
