Amherst ends season for I-S

Falcons remain undefeated

The undefeated Amherst Falcons beat the Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds 28-14 to claim the Central Wisconsin title on Friday, Oct. 18, in Scandinavia.

The T-Birds were first to strike when quarterback Parker Prahl scored on an 8-yard run. Connor Kurki kicked the extra point and Iola-Scandinavia was up 7-0.

The Falcons answered with two touchdowns on their own.

Aidan Elwood found the end zone on a 58-yard run and then again on a 1-yard run. Mason Czech kicked the extra points and Amherst took a 14-7 lead in the game.

Elwood had the only score in the third quarter and Czech kicked the extra point for the Falcons to widen the gap to 21-7.

The T-Birds got within 7 points when Marcus Jaworski brought down an 8-yard pass from Prahl for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Kurki kicked the extra point bringing the score to 21-14.

Elwood was more than the T-Birds could handle and he scored again giving Amherst the 28-14 win.

The T-Birds had 104 yards on the ground and 244 in the air.

Prahl carried the ball 14 times for 37 yards and connected on 14 of 30 passes for 244 yards.

Amherst had 226 yards on the ground and 62 in the air.

Elwood carried the ball 17 for 130 yards.

Lincoln Cullen led the passing connecting on 5 of 12 passes for 62 yards.

This concludes the season for the Thunderbirds and Amherst will move into post-season play.
