Jake remembered with park

Dedication held Saturday

By Robert Cloud

Light showers did not deter friends and family who dedicated the Jake Peglow Legacy Park Saturday, Oct. 19.

The park overlooks Round Lake in Dayton and serves as a memorial to Jake Peglow.

Jake was 15 years old when he was shot and killed on July 26, 2017.

“Through tragedy, the sun still shines,” Jake’s father, Jim Peglow, said during the dedication. “Hopefully, a little more every day.”

Jake, who had just finished his freshman year at Waupaca High School, was a member of Waupaca’s FFA chapter and Trinity Lutheran Church.

He was an avid outdoorsman who spent time with his father and brother fishing on Round Lake.

The small park has several benches and a trail leading to a pier on the lake.

Volunteers and memorial gifts made the park possible.

Located on Lauritzen Road about 9 miles south of Waupaca, the Jake Peglow Legacy Park is open to the public.
