Woman charged with felony OWI

Young girl in car at time of arrest

Elizabeth A. Tease, 40, Waupaca, is charged with a third drunken driving offense.

She is also accused of having an 8-year-old passenger at the time.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, Waupaca Officer Sam Van Dinter was patrolling on Cooper Street in Waupaca when he saw an 8-yearold child on the retaining wall behind Jefferson Street.

The child was yelling, “Help me.” Her leg was appeared to be lodged in the wall.

Van Dinter exited his vehicle and began jogging toward the girl.

As the officer approached her, the girl was able to free her leg.

Van Dinter saw Tease walking down the metal stairway toward Cooper Street.

The girl ran to Tease, who said the girl was fine.

The officer, who was standing about 5 feet from Tease, reported smelling alcohol.

Van Dinter drove up from Cooper Street to Main Street, then around to Jefferson Street.

According to the criminal complaint, Van Dinter saw Tease and the girl entering a 2007 Saturn Ion that was double parked on Jefferson Street.

The car reportedly occupied half of a handicapped parking stall and half of the adjacent stall.

Van Dinter approached Tease and noticed she had blood shot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol.

Tease initially denied having anything to drink, then admitted to two drinks, the complaint says.

She was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond and ordered to comply with the jail’s alcohol monitoring program.
