Williams, George

George Alvin Williams, age 87, husband of Dorie Williams, of Waupaca passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Crossroads Care Center in Weyauwega.

George was born on May 21, 1932 in Langlade County to the late Floyd and Josephine (Burr) Williams. George graduated in 1950 from New London High School. He then went on to serve in the United States Army. George enjoyed farming, hauling cattle, playing Sheepshead (especially up at the cattle barn!), playing baseball, trout fishing, deer hunting, and a good game of BINGO!

He married Grace (Scheller) Kaminske on May 3, 1953. They had eight children: son, the late Gerald (Karin) Williams, Waupaca, WI; daughter Genevieve Corwin, Weyauwega, WI; daughter Gwinette (the late Mark) Zielke, New London, WI; daughter Garnet (Wayne) Meisenhelder, Weyauwega; daughter Glori (Charlie) Beaver, Waupaca, WI; Geoffrey (Shelly) Williams, New London, WI; Gordon (Dena) Williams; and the late infant Garth Williams. He married Milly Thompson on February 2, 1980. She brought with her to the marriage seven children: Richard (Linda) Rohloff, Charles (Linda) Rohloff, Jerome (Karen) Rohloff, Ed (Lisa) Rohloff, Barbara Kersten, Paula (Al) Moder, and Laurie (Mike) Lewis; and their children and grandchildren. Milly passed away on November 7, 1994. George married Dorie Schnetzer on May 7, 2004. She brought with her to the marriage one son, James Schnetzer, Milwaukee, WI. He is further survived by his 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, sister, Phyllis Steiger; sister-in-law, Lois Reetz; sister-in-law, Elonda Hammond; brother-in-law, Richard Terrian; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends. Besides his parents, George is preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd (Lee) Williams, Clifford (Peggy) Williams, and his two infant brothers, Nathan and Kenneth; brother-in-law, Allan Steiger; sons, Garth and Gerald; son-in-law, Mark Zielke; step-daughter-in-law, Karen Rohloff, and step-daughter-in-law Dawn Schnetzer.

The visitation will be held on Friday, November 1st from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at The Lakes (previously Shepherd of the Lakes), 153 CR QQ, Waupaca, with Pastor Dean Wheeler officiating. A luncheon at Hidden Waters Golf Course, E4480 State Road 22 54, Waupaca, will follow the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
