Wolves fall to Cougars

Manawa eliminated from playoffs

The Manawa Wolves lost 46-28 to the Coleman Cougars in the second round of regional football at home on Nov. 1.

Coleman made the only score in the first quarter.

Tyler Blanchard ran 2 yards for a touchdown and Zack Cops added the 2-point conversion putting the Cougars up 8-0.

Coleman widened the gap to 20-0 with two touchdowns by Owen Kinziger in the second quarter before Manawa got on the board.

Mason Wiesner scored on a 1 yard run and later an 11 yard run, bringing the score to 20-14.

The final score of the half came when the Cougars quarterback Cayden Bintz connected with Payton Nelson ending the half with a score of 26-14.

With each team scoring once in the third quarter, Coleman remained in the lead at 32-22.

In the final quarter Sam Kuchta and Tyler Blanchard each scored once for Coleman. While Jackson Jaeger ran 43 yards for a Manawa touchdown ending the game with a score of 46-28.

With the loss Manawa’s season comes to an end.

Coleman will advance to the third round of playoffs and will take on Abbotsford on Nov. 8.
