Felony meth charge filed

Police report finding loaded syringe in car

Melanie A. Loper, 23, Waupaca, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and operating without a valid license.

On Oct. 28, Wisconsin State Trooper Kendi Linjer stopped a green 1997 Buick sedan on U.S. Highway 10 near Marten Road in rural Fremont.

Linjer reported the vehicle had a cracked taillight and a loud muffler.

The trooper identified the driver as Loper, although she did not have a driver’s license.

Winnebago County had issued a warrant for Loper’s arrest because she failed to report to jail.

Loper was convicted of retail theft on Sept. 17 and sentenced to 30 days in jail with work release privileges.

According to the Waupaca County criminal complaint, Linjer searched Loper’s car and found a syringe loaded with meth in the driver’s side door pocket.

Loper remains in custody on a $2,000 cash bond.
