Poppe, Sharon Ann

Sharon Ann Poppe, age 78 of New London, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Sharon was born on June 21, 1941 to the late Henry and Margaret (Bratz) Wetzel in Birnamwood, WI. Sharon was united in marriage to Alferd Poppe at Grace Lutheran Church in Bear Creek on December 5, 1964. She worked at Zwickers Knitting Mill prior to her marriage. Following her marriage, Sharon worked as a cook and waitress at various supper clubs in the area. She also worked at Dairy Queen where she decorated cakes. Sharon volunteered at Lutheran Women’s Thrift Store in Shawano and also for the Clintonville and Dale Food Pantries. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, quilting, crocheting and donating prayer shawls and hats to hospitals and thrift stores. Sharon was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bear Creek.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Alferd; children: Melissa Poppe, Allen (Lori) Poppe, Paul Poppe and Steve (Rachel) Poppe; grandchildren: Jessica Poppe, Nikki Poppe, Cody (Karley) Poppe, Angelina Poppe, Elizabeth Poppe, Danielle (Matthew) Whipple, Katie Poppe, Anna Fehlhaber-Poppe, Ella Fehlhaber-Poppe and Mica Fehlhaber-Poppe; great-grandchildren: Cory, April, Christopher, Anthony, Austin and Jasper and brother, Larry (Jenilee) Wetzel. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and great-granddaughter, Paisley Mae Poppe.

The funeral service for Sharon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Bear Creek with Rev. Aric Fenske officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Danish Cemetery in the Town of Deer Creek.
