Neuroth, Dale Henry

Dale Henry Neuroth was born October 1, 1962 to Nancy Lee Neuroth and Kenneth Henry Neuroth in the town of Waupaca, at Riverside Community Hospital. Dale, his little sister Dawn, and his mother resided in Raytown, Missouri during his childhood, and later returned to Waupaca where Dale attended middle and high school. Dale enlisted in the army and was in the 82nd airborne division of the Phantom Airborne Brigade from 1980-1984. He was deployed to Grenada where he suffered a debilitating back injury during a jump. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Waupaca where he met and married the love of his life, Melinda Dalton. They had two children, Jonathan and Samantha Neuroth. Dale was loving, generous, gifted, creative, hilarious, sensitive, and a devoted father, husband, son, brother and friend. He loved animals, and went to incredible lengths to care for them- once resulting in Dale and his husky becoming briefly small-town-famous in Lomira. Dale was a silly, whimsical person, and a collector whose home was packed with trinkets, antiques, and nonsensical items many would consider junk. To Dale, they were treasures. He was a gifted woodworker and drummer. He was a constant seeker of higher meaning and truth. His children remember him as a superhero who could beat up your dad (he wouldn’t, but he could if he wanted to,) and who was so strong that balls he threw into the air came back covered in cloud. He was an incredible father. At the same time, Dale was deeply, chronically depressed. He fought all his life to conquer his mental illness and addictions, and survived many relapses and depressive episodes. Legend had it that not even Dale Neuroth could kill Dale Neuroth. Sadly, he did just that and took his own life on November 8, 2019.

Dale loved his family and friends dearly, but desperately wanted to rest. He will be deeply missed, but those close to him know that he is finally at peace. He is survived by his mother, Nancy; his sister, Dawn; his children, Jonathan and Samantha; his grandchildren, Jonathon and Reuben; his dogs, Hotdog and Tank, and innumerable family and friends.

There will be a celebration of life for Dale on Sunday November 17th at 1:00 p.m., held at Waupaca Christian Church, E2249 King Road. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to organizations supporting suicide prevention or homeless veterans.
