Peters, Daniel B.

Daniel B. Peters, 64, of Waupaca passed away Wednesday, November 13th, surrounded by family after a courageous, year-long battle with cancer.

Dan was born on February 12, 1955 to Louis and Bryanne Peters. The second of four children, Dan grew up in a farm family in Royalton and attended schools in Royalton and Manawa. Dan played football and wrestled for his high school teams and spent much of his free time riding his motorcycle. After his junior year, his mother moved the family to Wilson, North Carolina where Dan graduated from Ralph L Fike High School in 1973. After high school, Dan joined the United States Navy, where he was stationed in San Diego, California. He served throughout the south Pacific during the Vietnam War and participated in the evacuation of refugees out of Saigon. After serving four years with the Navy, Dan moved back to Waupaca and began his 41-year career as a truck driver. Throughout his career, Dan traveled more than one million miles accident-free and developed encyclopedic knowledge of the nation’s geography and highways. He ended his career with Badger Federal of Oshkosh, retiring in spring of this year. Outside of work, Dan entertained many interests. A history buff since birth, Dan loved reading about military and historical events and accumulated an impressive collection of books on US history. He also enjoyed going on cross-country roadtrips on his motorcycle, fishing and boating with friends, attending truck shows and monster truck rallies, and watching Packer and Badger football games and NASCAR races (for the crashes). Dan was a devoted father to his two daughters, Danielle and Megan, and was quick to brag about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. He was a supportive and encouraging parent and enjoyed spending time with his girls whenever possible. In 2005, Dan reunited with Glenna Robbins, his former high school girlfriend, and the two were happily married in 2007. Dan was a loving husband and partner until he passed.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Louis; mother, Bryanne; and sister, Marlene. He is survived by his wife, Glenna; daughters, Danielle (Brian) and Megan (Trevor); stepchildren: Scott, Stephanie (Scott), and Elizabeth (Nathan); siblings, Harvey and Sonja (Vivian); and numerous lifelong friends and close family members.

The Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
