Solomon, George LeRoy

On Nov. 17, George LeRoy Solomon was called home to his heavenly father.

George was born Sept. 22, 1941 to William (Roy) and Lillie Bertha in Crofton, Nebraska. He grew up in the country and rode his trusty pony “Pal” to school. In 1956, George and his family moved to Spooner, WI where he was a 1960 graduate of Spooner High School. He did his four years of college between Eau Claire and Superior. On Oct. 2, 1965 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Superior, WI he married his wife and best friend Nora Vaski. After they moved to Kenosha, they had two daughters, Georgiana and Tammy. George worked his life at J. I. Case (International) until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the 20 Year Club and enjoyed their banquets, meeting with all the retirees. After retirement, he worked at Auto Dealers Exchange and Waukegan Auto Auction. George was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ogdensburg, WI. Although he couldn’t get there in the last few years, he considered that his home church in his life where he connected with his faith and our Father there. George was a man full of life and adventure. He loved to travel and take drives in the country looking at the farms and crops. He loved to fish whenever he could and got the chance. He enjoyed old cars, tractors, tractor pulls, old westerns and watching wrestling. Old country music and polkas were his favorite, but most of all, George loved his family and friends. He had two life time friends who he loved as brothers. He had a heart that never stopped giving or seeing beauty.

George is survived by his wife and best friend, Nora; his two daughters, Georgiana (Jim Schamber) and Tammy along with his grandchildren who were his heart; and he adored his great-grandchildren; his beautiful sister Sharon Carson (Solomon), many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, William (Roy) and Lillie Bertha (Walter) Solomon; his beautiful sister, Mary Ann Cook (Solomon); his grandparents and many family and friends.

George lived a life of love, being a giver, he believed in the Lord, love and his family. The Lord called him home to his heavenly father in his sleep. His life and memories will forever be in our hearts, prayers and thoughts.
