Manawa falls to Laona/Wabeno

Rebels spoil Wolves’ season opener

The Laona/Wabeno girls’ basketball team made a long trip south for its season opener Nov. 19 and returned home following a 58-26 win over Manawa.

The Rebels outscored Manawa 29-10 in the first half behind 12 points from Emma Harris, who led all scores with 18 points, and had a 29-16 advantage in the second half.

Alexis Hedtke led Manawa with 10 points and Kaitlyn Miller and Jaden Jaeger added five each. Miller led the Wolves with five rebounds and Grace Johnson had four.

The Wolves are now off until the Central Wisconsin Conference North Division opener at home against Marion on Thursday, Dec. 5.
