Pfefferle leads New London with 19 points

Foul trouble kept Macy McGlone on the bench for much of the first half of the Hortonville girls’ basketball team’s annual nonconference matchup with New London.

However, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee recruit scored 16 of her team-high 17 points Nov. 21 in the Polar Bears’ 71-52 win over the Bulldogs.

The lead changed five times in the first half before Hortonville used a 9-0 run to take a 24-16 lead and Aliyah Schmidt’s basket as the buzzer sounded gave the Polar Bears a 35-23 lead at the break.

Hortonville opened the second half with a 7-0 run, but New London answered with a 12-3 run that cut the lead to 45-35. The Bulldogs never got any closer the rest of the way and the Polar Bears added to their lead with a 13-4 run to go up 63-43.

New London’s Samantha Pfefferle and Mikayla Henderson led all scorers with 19 and 18 points, respectively, while Kamy Peppler scored 14 points for Hortonville and Morgan Draheim added 12.

Hortonville will host Green Bay Preble at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, while New London will head to Pulaski Tuesday, Dec. 3, to face the Red Raiders at 7:15 p.m.
