Six projects recommended
New London schools consider future capital projects
By John Faucher
The New London School District’s Facilities Committee verbally approved six capital projects totaling $191,900 at its Nov. 11 meeting.
The school board was scheduled to review the committee’s recommendation on Nov. 25.
Proposed projects include installing in-wall mounted cafeteria tables at Parkview Elementary School at an estimated cost of $29,900.
Director of Business Services Joe Marquardt said the purchase and installation of the tables matches the board’s approval last summer for Lincoln Elementary.
The remaining five projects recommended by the committee involve replacement of equipment, or maintenance of facilities at the district bus garage, Lincoln Elementary and New London High School.
Marquardt said planned equipment purchases include a heating system at the bus garage estimated at $16,000.
A water heater at Lincoln Elementary school estimated at $7,600, and exterior door replacements at the school estimated to costs $25,000.
The committee also approved a dish machine replacement at the high school estimated at $58,800, and athletic complex track resurfacing estimated at $54,600.
Marquardt said the board would review bids and select the lowest bidder for all projects recommended.
The school board was scheduled to vote on the committee’s recommendations at its Nov. 25 special meeting, after this paper’s deadline.
