Suspect jumped from moving car

Man charged with reckless endangerment

Jonathan L. Williamson, 31, New London, is charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor bail jumping.

At 11:35 p.m. Nov. 22, Waupaca County dispatch called out for a welfare check.

An anonymous caller had reported a man jumped out of a moving car into a ditch on State Highway 22 in the town of Farmington.

Waupaca County deputies James Santiago and Sara Besel responded.

Officers found Williamson face down in the gravel on the east shoulder of State 22.

He had an abrasion on the back of his head and blood on his face. A pool of blood was on the pavement.

According to the criminal complaint, Williamson became combative with the Gold Cross ambulance crew.

Besel and Santiago attempted to restrain Williamson, but he reportedly struggled and kicked at them.

Williamson was eventually loaded into the ambulance, transported to ThedaCare in Waupaca and then airlifted to ThedaCare in Neenah.

The woman who had been driving the vehicle told deputies Williamson became angry during an argument and grabbed the steering wheel, causing the car to veer to the centerline, then toward the ditch.

She said Williamson yelled, “I’m going to kill us both.”

He then jumped from the moving car.

Deputies reported finding a gem bag with 0.3 grams of meth in it.

At the time of the incident, Winnebago County had an active bench warrant for Williamson’s arrest. He failed to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of retail theft.

On July 3, Williamson was convicted in Waupaca County of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor bail jumping and placed on three years of probation.
