Police find 19 cats

Weyauwega woman charged for unsanitary conditions

Officers removed 19 cats and one dog after executing a search warrant at a Weyauwega home shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Police received reports indicating there were an unhealthy number of cats living in the home, as well as at least one dog.

Conditions in the house were also described as unhealthy.

The Weyauwega Police Department, the Fox Valley Humane Association and the Neenah Animal Shelter searched the house after it was cleared.

The animals were examined by a veterinarian on scene and transported to the Fox Valley for further treatment.

Theresa L Fischer Mccan, 53, was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

County prosecutors later charged her with one misdemeanor count of intentionally providing improper animal shelter sanitation standards.

Also responding to the animal situation were the Waupaca County Health Department, Weyauwega Public Works, Weyauwega Fire Department and Dairyland Animal Health.
