The Scandinavia Fire Department received a call for a structural fire at 310 Main St., Scandinavia, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15..

“This fire was difficult to extinguish because of a multiple-layered roof structure,” said Scandinavia Fire Chief Bryan Fuhs. “The Waupaca aerial truck was used as a platform to safely cut openings into the steel roof structure.”

The building has recently been vacant.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital for elevated blood pressure. He was released with no extended issues.

Firefighters remained on scene for six hours.

Assisting Scandinavia were Iola, Ogdensburg, Waupaca and Amherst.

The building is owned by Michael Binley.
