McRann, James “Jim” E.

James “Jim” E. McRann, age 87 of Manawa, passed away Saturday evening December 14, 2019 at the Manawa Community Living Center.

James was born on November 12, 1932 in the Town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County as the son of the late Edward Louis and Irma (Briggs) McRann. He graduated from Clintonville High School in 1950 and was united in marriage to LaVern Sanders on June 28, 1955 at Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Clintonville. As a young man James helped his father on the family farm and then started working for Barn-O-Matic in New London building barn cleaners. He worked there for a few years along with farming the family farm until he sold his cows in 1964 and took a job with FWD Seagrave in Clintonville. He continued cash cropping and later retired from FWD Seagrave in April of 1997 as plant superintendent. Shortly after retirement, James proudly built a vacation home on their property near Elcho; enjoying quality years there with LaVern and their grandchildren. James enjoyed shooting pool, watching stock car races, cutting firewood, and working on jigsaw puzzles. One of his fondest memories was attending the Indy 500 back in 1964. James will also be remembered for his loyalty to John Deere.
