Two teams still undefeated

Iola-Scandy, Hortonville keep winning

Two area boys’ basketball teams headed into the Christmas break with undefeated records.

Iola-Scandinavia and Hortonville improved to 6-0 and 8-0, respectively, with home conference wins Dec. 20.

Iola-Scandinavia handed Weyauwega-Fremont a 77-27 loss in a matchup of Central Wisconsin Conference East Division teams, while Hortonville won its fourth Fox Valley Association game, a 71-44 decision over Appleton North.

The Thunderbirds built a 40-15 halftime lead behind Connor Kurki, who scored 19 of his game-high 24 points.

Parker Prahl scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half as the T-Birds outscored the Indians 37-12.

Justin Sivertson also finished in double figures for the T-Birds with 18 points.

Logan Krause led the Indians with six points.

The T-Birds will host Markesan at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3.

Hortonville 71, Appleton North 44

Four Hortonville players scored in double figures in the Polar Bears’ win over the Lightning.

Mason Thiel led the way with 16 points, while Parker Lawrence, Jayqon Owens and Cole Warning added 10 each.

The Polar Bears hosted Fort Atkinson Dec. 28 and will resume their FVA schedule at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Kimberly.
