Two injured in crash

Car hits tree in Dayton

Two people were injured when a car a crashed head-on into a tree shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, a 53-year-old rural Waupaca man was driving westbound on Crystal Lake Road near East Road in the town of Dayton.

After passing another westbound vehicle, he lost control, entered the ditch and collided with a tree.

The driver and a 43-year-old female passenger were injured in the crash.

Waupaca firefighters were called to the scene because the woman was trapped and the vehicle was smoking.

Due to weather conditions, medical helicopters could not fly in.

The driver and passenger were transported via ambulance to a hospital in the Fox Valley.

Deputies were assisted by Gold Cross Ambulance.

The incident remains under investigation. Names have not been released.
