Bulldogs make it look easy

Turnovers hurt Waupaca boys

By Greg Seubert

After being on the short end of an 86-44 score to Seymour in its last game, the New London boys’ basketball team was looking for a way to enter 2020 on a positive note.

The Bulldogs found what they were looking for in the Waupaca Comets.

New London turned 21 first-half turnovers into 21 points and went on to hand the Comets a 75-32 nonconference loss Dec. 28.

The Bulldogs scored the game’s first 13 points and held the Waupaca scoreless until Hunter Marcom’s basket nearly five minutes into the game.

New London used a 17-2 run later in the half and led 40-13 at the break.

Waupaca never got any closer than 24 points in the second half and trailed by as many as 48 points late in the game.

Garret Locy led three New London scorers in double figures with 17 points, while Ben Porath and Connor Brinkman added 16 and 12, respectively.

Alex Klemp led Waupaca with 10 points.
