Felony OWI follows crash

Driver hits vehicle stopped at RR tracks

Scott L. Olson, 57, Waupaca, is charged with felony OWI causing injury.

He has two prior drunken driving convictions.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, Waupaca County Deputy Adam LaBrosse was dispatched to an accident on Larson Road west of State Highway 49 in rural Waupaca.

When LaBrosse arrived at the scene, he found a blue Kia van with rear-end damage and a blue Chevy pickup with front-end damage.

The 62-year-old driver of the Kia said he was stopped at the railroad tracks crossing Larson when the pickup truck slammed into the back of his vehicle. He complained of lower back pain.

According to the criminal complaint, Olson was lying in the south ditch of Larson Road.

He apparently slipped on the ice, fell into the ditch and was unable to climb out.

Waupaca firefighters arrived and helped pull him out of the ditch.

A preliminary breath test indicated Olson had a .195 blood-alcohol level.

He was released from custody after posting a $500 cash bond.
