Meth charge follows traffic stop

Police say driver gave false name

Julie R. Merryfield, 40, Marion, is charged with possession of methamhetamine and obstructing an officer.

On New Year’s Day, Clintonville Police Officer Andrew Kizewski was on patrol when he ran the plate number on a tan Chevy Impala.

The plate number was not associated with any vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, when Kizewski made contact with the driver, she said she did not have her driver’s license with her.

The driver reportedly gave a woman’s name that was associated with the license plate, but the address was wrong.

Kizewski ran a records check on the vehicle’s VIN number and found it belonged to Merryfield, whose description matched the driver’s.

After the driver admitted to being Merryfield, Kizewski arrested her for obstructing an officer, the complaint says.

Merryfield’s license was suspended in 2014 for failure to pay a fine that remains unpaid.

Subsequent to the arrest, Kizewski reported finding drug paraphernalia with white residue that tested positive for meth.

Merryfield was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond.
