Besaw named Snodeo Queen

Manawa junior to reign over Bear Lake event

By Holly Neumann

Stephanie Besaw will reign over the 2020 Manawa Snodeo, which will take place Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 15–16 at Bear Lake Resort.

The resort is located at N4715 State Highway 22 and 110, in Manawa.

“I am very excited to represent Manawa as the Snodeo Queen,” she said. “This is something that I have wanted to do for a long time, and I am glad that I can this year.”

The 17-year-old is no stranger to the racing world.

“My dad and my brother both race,” Besaw said. “It looks like so much fun, and it’s amazing what they can do and how fast they can do.”

She has been active at Snodeo the past years, helping with the radar run.

“That has got to be my favorite event,” she said. “But I also like watching the snowmobiles on the oval track as well.”

This year she is excited to see Kurt Anderson and his Arctic Arrow attempt to break the world speed record on ice.

“This is a huge for Manawa,” Besaw said. “This is a chance to put us on the map. People will have to look to see what Manawa is all about.”

She thinks Snodeo is a great event for the community.

“It brings people together for the purpose of just having fun,” Besaw said. “It’s just nice to get together with family and friends and to make some new ones along the way as well.”

She encourages those who have never attended it to give it a try.

“It’s something new and, it can create a lifetime of memories,” Besaw said.

The daughter of Glen and Julie Besaw of Manawa, she is a junior at Little Wolf High School, where she is active in Art Team, Art Club, band and FFA.

Joining Besaw on the court will be princesses Maddie Meyer and Ashley Buch.
