By Holly Neumann

The Manawa girls’ basketball team improved to 5-0 in Central Wisconsin Conference play Jan. 10 with a 45-40 home win over Northland Lutheran.

Coach Pat Collins gave credit to his team for playing hard the whole game.

“I think the difference in the game was keeping their defense going and they did just that,” he said. “They were relentless and never gave up.”

Mikenna Wegener led the Wolves and all scorers with 16 points, while Brooke Neumann led Northland Lutheran with 13.

Mikayla Wegener and Josie Nichols scored six points each for Manawa.

Mikayla Wegener led team in rebounding with eight, followed by Grace Johnson and Kaitlyn Miller with six each.
