Police seek sex offender

Suspect spent nearly 20 years in prison

Waupaca County Circuit Court issued a warrant for the arrest of a sex offender whose whereabouts are unknown.

Daniel P. Jones, 54, formerly of Clintonville, was charged Jan. 14 with felony violation of the sex offender registry.

According to the criminal complaint, Jones failed to notify the Department of Corrections that he relocated.

On May 10, 1990, Wood County sentenced Jones to state prison for second-degree sexual assault.

He was paroled in May 1993, returned from parole in June 1994, then released again in March 1995, according to state DOC records.

On Jan. 12, 1996, Monroe County sentenced Jones to four years in prison for 1995 felony offenses of intimidation of a victim and battery.

On Feb. 28, 1996, Monroe County sentenced him to 10 years in prison for a Jan. 13, 1996 offense of felony intimidation of a victim while he was in jail.

On Aug. 26, 1996, Portage County sentenced Jones to three years in prison for five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in November 1995.

Jones was released from custody on extended supervision in May 2013.

If convicted of violating the sex offender registry, Jones faces up to six years in prison.
