Manawa handed the Wautoma/Wild Rose wrestling team a 44-21 nonconference loss Jan. 14.

“I was really proud of how the guys went out and competed,” coach Brad Johnson said. “We worked hard, got to the positions we knew we could score from and capitalized.”

Manawa’s wins included pins from Kevin Klemm over Colton Flatoff (113 pounds), Colten Klemm over Creedon Abraham (126), Corey Beyer over Hunter Netzler (182) and Kaden Kaczorowski over Kacey Grasessley (195).

Bryan Griffin picked up an 18-2 technical fall win over James Barbarich at 145 and Colin Moser beat Colton Martin 12-11 at 170.
Wautoma/Wild Rose’s wins came on Ashton Abraham’s pin of Ben Stern (132) and Christian Weiss’ 4-2 sudden victory over Bryce Bartel (152).

Wautoma/Wild Rose forfeited matches to Adrin Larsen (106) and Andrew Elmhorst (220), while Manawa forfeited to Stone Hellman (120) and Ethan Kubasta (138).

“Every error from tonight is correctable,” Johnson said. “Overall, I am just so proud of how everyone stepped up and fought for each other.”

The Wolves will host a Central Wisconsin Conference multi-dual meet Friday, Jan. 24. The meet, which gets underway at 4:30 p.m., will include Almond-Bancroft/Pacelli, Amherst, Bonduel, Freedom and Menominee Indian.
