Community Chest seeks funds

The Waupaca Community Chest’s annual fund drive is underway.

The organization raises funds to support charities and service organizations in the Waupaca area.

Among those who have received funds in the past are local Boy and Girl Scout troops, the Bread Basket, Agape Health Center, Project Backpack, Students Against Destructive Decisions, the Waupaca Community Garden, Waupaca Heroin/AODA Task Force, Waupaca Miracle Tree and Waupaca Thrift Store.

The Waupaca Community Chest began in 1958.

It evolved into the Waupaca Area United Way and then changed back to the Waupaca Community Chest in 2018.

It did so to become an independent fundraising organization and to make sure the funds raised in this area stay in this area to help local groups and organizations provide services to the community.

Last year, it raised and distributed funds to 20 community organizations.

Members of the Waupaca Senior Center recently assisted in stuffing the envelopes for the 2020 fund drive.

People may return donations in the envelopes provided in the mailing or visit www.waupacacommunitychest.com to make a donation online.
