Work begins on community center

Friends of Fremont is partnering with Keller, Inc. and McMahon Associates to design and build its new community center.

Last month, representatives of the limited liability company gathered to celebrate the beginning of demolition and construction.

They did so in front of the former Channel Cats Bar and Restaurant building.

The property is located at 204 Wolf River Drive, in Fremont.

Changes will include demolishing 8,612 square feet of the structure’s south half, new exterior finishes, re-establishing the banquet area, accessibility improvements, dock improvements and creation of a new outdoor community space.

Work will continue throughout 2020, with a combination of volunteer and professional contracting help.

Friends of Fremont bought the property in 2018 and began plans to redevelop it.
