Suspect charged with felony theft

While police were still investigating an attempted car theft, the suspect allegedly stole another vehicle.

Benito M. Delbosque Jr., 45, Bear Creek, is charged in Waupaca County with one count each of felony theft, attempting to take a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

On Dec. 14, 2019, a woman on the 500 block of Division Street, told New London Police Officer Todd Sarazin that a man later identified as Delbosque grabbed her keys from her hand and tried to drive off in her Chevy Equinox.

According to the criminal complaint, Delbosque’s cousin pulled him from the car and took back the keys.

While Sarazin was still investigating the first incident, Delbosque allegedly drove off in a Chevy Silverado.

The vehicle was located through OnStar and Delbosque was arrested while driving the car.

That same day, a Shawano County deputy arrested Delbosque for a fourth drunken driving offense, burglary, operating with a revoked license and obstructing an officer.

Delbosque is currently in Shawano County jail on a $20,000 cash bond.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison on the felony theft and up to six years each on the taking a vehicle without consent charges.
