Johnson, Evelyn “Evie” C. (Olson)

Evelyn “Evie” C. (Olson) Johnson passed away on Sunday February 2, 2020 at Theda Care Hospital in Waupaca.

Evie was born in Waupaca on January 15, 1929, the daughter of Clair and Pearl (Anderson) Olson. On September 11, 1948 Evie married the love of her life, Donald Johnson in Waupaca. They were married 62 years. Evie graduated from Waupaca High School in 1947. Over the years she worked in the offices of several Waupaca businesses: Wisconsin Public Service, Northern Propane Gas Co., USA Insurance and Waupaca Foundry until she retired. After they retired, Evie and Don enjoyed traveling on bus tours to Nashville, TN, and Branson, MO with their friends. She also liked their overnight getaways to theater shows in Wisconsin Dells and day trips to the Casino. She loved baking and cooking special meals for and spending time with her kids and grandkids and other family and friends. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Waupaca.

Evie is survived by her children: Marcia (Larry) Gutt, Waupaca; James Johnson, Weyauwega and Dan (Marsha) Johnson, Waupaca; her seven grandchildren: Adam Gutt, and Ryan (Amy) Gutt, Amanda (David) Helpap, Sarah (Steven) Worthey, and Marisa (Jackson Stearns) Johnson, Haley and Alexa Johnson; great-grandchildren: Olivia and Rowan Gutt and Madelyn and Benjamin Helpap. She is also survived by her brother-in-law John Jones of Wild Rose and many nieces and nephews. Evie was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, a brother Robert Olson and a sister June Jones; brother and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Jere Johnson and Viola Olson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Waupaca Legacy, Theda Care Hospital Staff, and Theda Care Hospice for all their wonderful care.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Andy Behrendt will officiate with burial to follow at Lakeside Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. The Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
