Manawa remains undefeated in the Central Wisconsin Conference after beating the Bowler Panthers 91-30 at home on Friday, Jan. 31.
The Wolves had a commanding 50-17 lead at the half and out-scored the Panthers 41-13 in the final period to take the win.
“It was a little bit of a slow start for us,” said Troy Wiesner, head coach for Manawa. “But we really turned things up the last couple minutes of the first half and throughout the second.”
He felt it was a total team effort.
“We had 29 assists tonight which means we are really seeing the floor and helping one another out,” he said.
Wiesner also gave credit to the defense.
“We are still working on some things, like how to stay out of foul trouble, but still play intense defense,” he said. “It’s a work in progress but we are getting much better.”
Topping the scoring for Bowler was Lane Schultz with seven.
Leading the way for Manawa was Mason Wiesner with 25, followed by Nick Gorman with 16 and Riley Krenke with 14.
During the game, Mason Wiesner scored his 1,000th career point from the free throw line.
“I knew I had to score 21 points to get there,” he said. “It was a little nerve wracking, but I knew I had my team behind me. I couldn’t have done it without them.”
