Erin Viergutz has been putting up some big numbers this season for the Clintonville girls’ basketball team.

Take the Truckers’ 71-60 nonconference win over Seymour, for example. She led all scorers with 24 points and snared a game-high 13 rebounds. She also led the Truckers with 15 points Jan. 30 in a 52-43 North Eastern Conference win over Little Chute.

Clintonville 71, Seymour 60

Clintonville built a 33-25 halftime lead behind 12 points from Viergutz and eight from Jordan Lehman before outscoring the Thunder 38-35 in the second half.

The Truckers led by as many as 13 points early in the second half, but Seymour used a pair of three-pointers from Emily Palubicki and Andrianna Volz to cut the lead to 50-46.

Clintonville answered with a 10-2 run to go up 60-48 and the Thunder never got any closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Lehman and Elly Arndt scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, to go with Viergutz’s 24, while Diahanna King led Seymour with 13.

Clintonville 52, Little Chute 43

Little Chute’s Katie Joten scored more than half of Little Chute’s points, but it wasn’t enough for the Mustangs.

Clintonville outscored the visitors 24-19 in the first half and added to its lead with a 28-24 advantage in the second half.

Joten led all scorers with 27 points. Arndt also finished in double figures for the Truckers with 10 points.

Clintonville played at Luxemburg-Casco Feb. 4 and will head to Freedom Friday, Feb. 7, for a 7 p.m. North Eastern rematch with the Irish.
