Criminal sentencing

Recent sentencing, convictions and dismissals from Waupaca County felony cases.

• Judge Vicki Clussman sentenced Cody R. Thompson, 28, Redgranite, to two years of prison and three years of extended supervision.

Thompson was convicted of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and child neglect.

She also ordered Thompson to pay $983 in court costs.

• Judge Troy Nielsen sentenced Shawn G. Fink, 32, Birnamwood, to one year in state prison after revoking his probation for possession of methamphetamine.

Fink was also sentenced in Marathon County in February to one year in prison for possession of meth.

• Nielsen placed James J. Morois, 18, Menominee, on three years of probation.

He stayed a sentence of six months in jail and ordered Morois to perform 240 hours of community service and pay $518 in court costs.

Morois was convicted of burglary as party to a crime.

• Judge Raymond Huber placed Gavin H. Durrant, 18, Waupaca, on two years of probation.

He ordered Durrant to perform 100 hours of community service, maintain full-time schooling or employment, possess no illegal drugs and pay $518 in court costs.

Durrant was convicted of felony possession of marijuana. Two counts of delivery of marijuana were dismissed but read into the record for sentencing purposes.

• Clussman placed Erica L. Durrant, 38, Iola, on three years of probation.

Durrant was convicted of felony failure to pay child support.

When she was charged in October 2018, Durrant owed $8,450 in back support and had not made payments for two years, according to the criminal complaint.

As conditions of probation, Clussman ordered Durrant to remain current with support and arrears obligations.

Durrant was convicted in Calumet County for possession of methamphetamine, placed on three years of probation and assessed $1,554.

• Nielsen sentenced Robert L. Thompson, 39, Oshkosh, to 60 days in jail for possession of marijuana.

Nielsen also imposed and stayed nine months in jail and placed Thompson on three years of probation for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

As conditions of his probation, Thompson must maintain absolute sobriety, submit to any counseling recommended by his probation agent, and pay $1,329 in court costs.

• Clussman placed Jorge L. Maldonado, 23, New London, on one year of probation.

Maldonado was convicted of two felony counts of delivery of marijuana.

Two counts of delivery of marijuana were dismissed but read into the court record.

The complaint says Maldonado sold pot to a police informant.

As conditions of his probation, Maldonado must have no contact with known drug dealers, maintain full-time employment, obtain a graduation equivalency degree, maintain absolute sobriety, participate in alcohol or drug assessments and abide by recommended treatment.

Clussman also ordered Maldonado to pay $3,266 in restitution for the buy money and court costs.

• Huber placed Brianna P. Southland, 19, Iola, on 18 months of probation.

Southland was convicted of two counts of theft. One count of forgery uttering was dismissed but read into the court record.

Huber also ordered Southland to pay $1,483 in restitution and court costs.

• Huber placed Brady R. Wenzel, 23, Clintonville, on two years of probation. waupacanow.com/2019/04/15/two-charged-with-criminal-damage/

Wenzel was convicted of taking a vehicle without consent for joy riding, criminal damage to property and theft.

Huber assessed Wenzel $3,644 in restitution and court costs.

• Huber placed StarrAnn G. Stocks 19, Waupaca, on two years of probation.

Stocks was convicted of substantial battery, amended from first-degree reckless injury.

As conditions of her probation, Huber stayed 90 days in jail to be used at her agent’s discretion. He also ordered that Stocks not possess any weapons and obtain a GED.

If her probation is revoked, Huber granted her 108 days credit for the time between her initial arrest and when she posted a $500 cash bond, The cash bond was applied to her $518 in court costs.

• Nielsen placed Nicholas J. Ulbing, 33, Manawa, on three years of probation. waupacanow.com/2019/05/24/guns-found-in-felons-home/

Ulbing was convicted of felon in possession of a firearm and felony possession of marijuana.

The court dismissed but read into the record five counts of felon in possession of a firearm, as well as possession charges for cocaine, narcotics and illegally obtained prescription drugs.

As conditions of his probation, Nielsen ordered Ulbing to submit to any assessment and participate in any counseling deemed appropriate by his agent. He also assessed Ulbing $1,036 in court costs.

• Nielsen sentenced Dianne M. Lowe, 53, Townsend, to 30 days in jail with release privileges and assessed her $906 in court costs.

Lowe was convicted of failure to report to jail to begin a 90-day jail sentence for possession of cocaine.
