‘Celebration of Love’

Physician examines relationships

Dr. Gil Burgstede believes there is a missing element today in both medicine and society.

That element is love.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, Burgstede is presenting a free program to help people open their hearts to love fully.

“A Celebration of Love” is being held from 7-8 p.m. at Danes Hall of Waupaca.

“This is my passion,” Burgstede says.

He said the program is about the four stages of love.

Burgstede chose to offer it around Valentine’s Day because the program is about human love.

“We aren’t consciously aware of what love is,” he said.

Burgstede has been working in the medical profession for 43 years.

He was inspired to become a doctor by a family physician.

Burgstede graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his residency through the University of Illinois.

After he switched to working in emergency medicine, he began searching for what he felt was missing in himself and was reflecting back to him in the health crises affecting his patients and co-workers.

He recognized the heart’s energy was what was missing.

For at least 25 years, he has studied such topics as energy dynamics, energy healing and energy medicine.

The idea of “centering” ones heart has been around a long time, Burgstede said.

In 2014, he published “Rx: A Dose of Heart,” a book in which he shares stories of the “heart’s power to renew and transform our lives.”

“Ultimately, I want to create a universal education so everyone can for free learn how to center, bring it to their relationships and then out into the world,” he said.

Burgstede is launching HeartCentering.net as that source.

People may join the network by visiting the site.

Burgstede plans to do a live podcast every Thursday.

After his Feb. 13 program, he plans to hold a workshop in which he teaches people how to center their hearts and share that energy.

Burgstede wants to teach people how to fill their hearts to full and overflowing every day.

While registration is appreciated for the Feb. 13 program, walk-ins are welcome.

To register, go to www.heartcentering.net, click on “More” on the right side of the top navigation bar, then click “A Celebration of Love.”

Gourmet chocolate tartlets follow the program.

Danes Hall is located at 301 N. Main St., in Waupaca.
