Suspect charged with fraud

Waupaca man accused of stealing $3,600 from his father

Cody D. Johnson, 20, Waupaca, is charged with bank card fraud and identity theft.

Johnson is accused of stealing two of his father’s bank cards and using them to make about 25 transactions for a total of $3,645.

According to the criminal complaint, most of the transactions were made using Google Pay and Facebook Pay, during the month of January.

Johnson’s father said his son was unemployed and using marijuana and methamphetamine.

The father said he had reported a similar incident earlier, but withdrew his complaint.

When asked where the money went, Johnson reportedly said he used it to buy meth.

Johnson was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond.

On Nov. 29, 2018, Judge Raymond Huber sentenced Johnson to nine months in jail after revoking his probation.

Johnson was placed on two years of probation for possession of psilocin, theft, criminal trespass and concealing stolen property in June 2018.
