Baumgartner, Nancy

August 4, 1947 – February 10, 2020 (age 72)

Nancy Leigh (Grill) Baumgartner, age 72 of Clintonville, passed away Monday morning February 10, 2020.

Nancy attended the Clintonville Public Schools graduating from CHS in 1965, where she was an honor student and belonged to the National Honor Society. She played trumpet in band and in the pep band. She was president of the French Club her senior year and vice president of Truckerettes as a senior, holding many positions of leadership during high school. After graduation Nancy attended the Milwaukee County School of Nursing, graduating in 1968. She participated in many sports while in college. She was a pediatric nurse at St Michael Hospital in Milwaukee where she worked for several years until she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where she worked at Jewish Hospital and the University of Cincinnati Hospital. Nancy had a successful career and was highly regarded for her compassionate service. She loved working in Pediatrics. The kids stole her heart. Even later in life she continued to work with children with special needs as she accompanied the children to school and carefully attended to their medical needs in the classroom each day. Nancy was always athletic and was an avid competitor in her tennis club in her early years in Cincinnati. She also enjoyed playing golf, volleyball and playing Bridge. Nancy coached her boys in their various organized sports of baseball, basketball and soccer. She was a dedicated and successful gardener being awarded neighborhood recognition for her landscaping and gardening skills. Nancy was a talented woodworker and created may beautiful wooden pieces of artwork, which she shared and gifted to many friends, family and acquaintances. Nancy will be remembered for her quick witted humor, her scholarly success, her compassion in nursing and her love for beautiful gardening.

Nancy is survived by her sons, Timothy Baumgartner (Becky Baumgartner), Michael Baumgartner and her grandson Maron Baumgartner. She was so proud and loving of her sons and relished and remarked that the years of nurturing and raising her boys was the joy and best part of her life. Nancy is also survived by her brother Michael Grill (Nancy Ehlert Grill), nieces Jennifer Grill and Sara Nonzee; her sister Jean Grill, an aunt, uncle and cousins. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Maron (Bud) and Lois Grill and her brother David Grill.
