Manawa boys fall in Iola

T-Birds continue winning streak

Connor Kurki’s big game helped the Iola-Scandinavia boys’ basketball team remain undefeated.

He scored 26 of his game-high 28 points in the first half and the Thunderbirds went on to hand Manawa a 69-47 defeat Feb. 11 in Iola.

The T-Birds outscored the Wolves 45-23 in the first half before both teams scored 24 points the rest of the way.

Justin Sivertson also finished in double figures for the T-Birds with 19 points.

Mason Wiesner and Riley Krenke led Manawa with 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Iola-Scandinavia improved to 17-0 on the season and Manawa fell to 11-7.

The T-Birds returned to CWC East Division play Feb. 13 in Bonduel and will head to Rosholt to face the Hornets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Manawa hosted Northland Lutheran Feb. 13 and will travel to Keshena Monday, Feb. 17, for a 7 p.m. matchup with Menominee Indian.
