Viergutz leads Clintonville with 30 points

A big second half added up to another North Eastern Conference win for the Clintonville girls’ basketball team.

The Truckers trailed Marinette 31-29 at halftime, but outscored the Marines 44-19 in the second half Feb. 11 and went on to hand the Marines a 73-50 defeat.

Clintonville improved to 11-5 in conference play and 14-6 overall.

Two players recorded a double-double for the Truckers. Erin Viergutz scored a game-high 30 points and led both teams with 15 rebounds and Jordan Lehman added 11 points and 12 rebounds. Selina Torrez and Elly Arndt also scored in double figures for Clintonville with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Katelyn Kitzinger led Marinette with 16 points.

The Truckers will travel to Appleton Friday, Feb. 14, for a conference matchup with Fox Valley Lutheran before wrapping up the regular season Thursday, Feb. 20 at home against Wrightstown. Tipoff for both games is set for 7 p.m.
