Hundreds of players have suited up for the Clintonville High School boys’ basketball team over the years.

Not many of them have scored as many points as Aiden Polzin.

Polzin became the eighth player in program history to score 1,000 points. He reached the milestone Feb. 13 with a three-pointer in the Truckers’ 78-48 win over Marinette.

“It’s been a dream of mine since I was a freshman to score 1,000 (points).” the senior said. “We’ve had many great players that have played here. I knew I was going to get it my senior year. I figured it would work out at the end of the year and I got it.

“It’s everything I’ve worked for,” he added. “On Parents’ Night and with the whole community here, it means a lot to me that they were all here to support me.”

Polzin’s three-pointer gave the Truckers an early 9-0 lead and Marinette never got any closer than six points the rest of the game.

The Truckers led 39-21 at halftime and outscored the Marines 39-27 in the second half.

Clintonville’s Nathan Morse led all scorers with 22 points and Polzin finished with 20.

Asaia Polazzo led Marinette with 19 points.

The win gave the Truckers a 13-5 overall record and a 10-5 mark in the North Eastern Conference. One of those 10 wins came against Wrightstown after the Tigers came into the game ranked third in the state in Division 3.

“We all just love each other and love having a good time,” said Polzin, who is averaging 20.9 points per game this season while also leading the team in rebounds and assists per game.

The Truckers traveled to Waupaca to face the Comets Feb. 18 and will wrap up the regular season at home against Oconto Falls on Friday, Feb. 21; and at Denmark on Thursday, Feb. 27.

In the meantime, Polzin has a chance to finish higher than eighth on the Truckers’ all-time scoring list.

“We have a few games left,” he said. “Hopefully, I’ll make it to the top five or top four.”
