T-Birds let one slip away

Bears come back in second half

By Holly Neumann

At first, it looked like the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team was well on its way to picking up a Central Wisconsin Conference East Division win over Bonduel.

The Bears, however, weren’t going along with that plan, as they overcame an 11-point deficit Feb. 13 and returned home with a 43-41 win.

Iola-Scandinavia took a 27-16 halftime lead behind eight points from Bryanna Kisting.

Bonduel outscored the home team 27-14 in the second half.

Lilly Fuhs led the Thunderbirds with 10 points, while Emilie Briquelet and Kisting added eight each.

Bonduel’s Allaina Robaidek led all scorers with 14 points, while teammate Kara Troxel chipped in with 11.

The T-Birds will head to Rosholt for their annual matchup with the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, before wrapping up the regular season two days later in Shiocton.
