The Waupaca girls’ basketball team wrapped up the regular season Feb. 20 with a 63-51 North Eastern Conference loss to Fox Valley Lutheran.

The Foxes headed into the locker room at halftime with a 23-21 lead before outscoring the Comets 40-30 in the second half.

Finley Charapata and Savannah Wehmeyer led the Comets with 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Fox Valley Lutheran’s Bailey Jacobsen led all scorers with 23 points.

Waupaca received a No. 9 seed in Division 2 for the WIAA state tournament and will head north to face eighth-seeded Ashland at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, in a regional quarterfinal. The winner of that game will head to Hortonville at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, to face the top-seeded Polar Bears in a regional semifinal.
