Sturgeon Shuffle

Discount registration fees until March 1

Registration is underway for the Sturgeon Shuffle 5K 10K on Saturday, April 25, at New London Middle School.

The 10K race starts at 9 a.m., with the 5K event to follow at approximately 9:10 am.

In its 10th year, the Sturgeon Shuffle is a family-friendly 5K walk/run and a 10K competitive road run open to all levels of athletes.

Both courses return to their origin on County Trunk X just west of New London.

The road will be closed to traffic during the events.

The courses run parallel to the Wolf River during the time of the year that historically sees the unique “running” of the sturgeon.

Proceeds raised from the Shuffle will benefit area Project Backpack programs in the school districts of New London, Waupaca, Manawa, Weyauwega-Fremont, Iola-Scandinavia, Amherst and Wisconsin Rapids.

These organizations are working to stamp out hunger in area schools.

Entry fees are $25 per person through March 1.

Fees increase to $30 from March 2 through April 12.

Youth age 14 and under pay an entry fee of $10 through April 12.

Participants who register by April 12 are guaranteed to receive a 10th Annual Sturgeon Shuffle raglan sleeve event shirt.

Registration fees after April 12 through the day of the event are $35 or $15 for youth age 14 and under.

The top three finishers in both the 5K and 10K events, in each gender and age division, will receive an award.

Age divisions are 7 and under, 8 to 11, 12 to 14, 15 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and age 70 and up.

The Sturgeon Shuffle is presented by First State Bank and supported by nearly 40 business sponsors throughout the region.
