Traffic stop leads to heroin bust

Driver charged with intent to deliver

Alan C Kotchkoski, 26, Wausau. is charged with possession of heroin with intent to deliver.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 14, Weyauwega Police Officer Justin Malueg stopped a vehicle on U.S. Highway 10.

Malueg believed the driver, identified as Kotchkoski, may have used drugs based on his behavior.

Kotchkoski reportedly told the officer he had snorted heroin.

Malueg contacted the county and requested a K9 unit.

According to the criminal complaint, Waupaca County Deputy Adam Labrosse and his K9 partner, Dom, conducted a search of the vehicle and found numerous small plastic bags of a light brown powder.

The powder tested positive for heroin and weighed more than 6 grams.

“To better understand how much 6 grams of heroin is, the average user only uses 0.1 grams at one time,” according to Waupaca County Sheriff Timothy Wilz. “This stop removed approximately 60 doses of heroin from the streets of Wisconsin.”

Kotchkoski was released from custody on a $2,000 signature bond.

He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted as charged.
