County seeks poll workers

Help needed for April 7 elections

Waupaca County Clerk Jill Lodewegen is looking for citizens to serve as poll workers for the April 7 election.

Many veteran poll workers have to sit this election out, so area municipalities need younger citizens to volunteer.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many cities, towns and villages are looking for extra workers to help run the election.

Those who are 18 years of age or older and interested are asked to email the Waupaca County Clerk at [email protected].

Enter “Poll Worker Applicant” in the subject line, then share a few words about your interest and include your contact information.

Potential poll workers may also call 715-942-1998 and leave their name and contact information.

The county clerk’s offer will reply with details.

Poll worker requirements

• Be a qualified elector of the county in which the municipality is located (i.e., an adult citizen of the United States who has resided in the election district for 10 consecutive days and is not otherwise disqualified to vote).

• Be able to read and write fluently in the English language.

• Not be a candidate for any office to be voted on at the polling place at that election.

Poll workers do everything from check-in voters, help people register to vote, check photo IDs and process absentee ballots.

The local clerk will provide poll workers with training prior to election day for the job they will be doing.
