Clerks urge absentee voting

Pollworkers needed for April 7

By Greg Seubert

A local village clerk is asking Waupaca County voters to take advantage of absentee voting for the upcoming election.

“The absentee ballots issued to date are nowhere near the number of eligible voters,” Scandinavia Village Clerk Renee Smith said. “We need people to request absentee ballots. We do not want people at the polls if it can be avoided.”

Thursday, April 2, is the final day to request a ballot by mail for the election, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. Monday, March 30, is the final day to register online.

The ballot for the election includes a state Supreme Court race, as well as several municipal races.

Also, Waupaca County Clerk Jill Lodewegen is looking for poll workers for the election.

Many cities, towns and villages need poll workers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Workers must be 18 years of age. Anyone interested should contact Lodewegen at [email protected] or leave their information at 715-942-1998.
